What’s up?
The ceiling… duh!
Brandon and my sister’s boyfriend, Ryan, put up drywall in the kitchen last week. Here they are working very hard on one corner. (Truth is, I only took photos of them while they were working on that one spot.)
Beautiful!!! Now I just have to mud it and we’ll be ready for molding and paint!

Home improvement videos at your fingertips!
I’ve just added a video unit from YouTube on my home page. I wanted to include some extra content without being too intrusive, so there you have it! Each time you refresh the page you’ll get a new video from either Expert Village or Home Remodel Workshop. The videos are set up on a playlist so when you hover your mouse over the video screen, a left and right arrow show up. You can click on one of those arrows to skip ahead to another video or go back to a previous one in the list.
I’ve never used anything like this before, so I’m open to hearing feedback from you. You can leave me a comment here on the site or email me at kelli@ournewoldhouse.com to let me know if you love it, hate it, or can’t find it.
New and exciting developments coming up on my house, so visit back often!

What’s old is new again.
We’re getting started on the major projects in the kitchen and that includes flooring. Here’s how the floor looked when we first moved in:
Brandon started tearing up the old flooring and found some of this old linoleum:
Ironically, we had just picked out this new style of linoleum tile when we found the old stuff:
So we’re continuing the same type of geometric look that was done in the past, but with an updated look and improved durability. I can’t wait to have these floor tiles installed. That’ll be happening in three weeks.

“Oh wall, oh sweet and lovely wall…”
I saw A Midsummer Night’s Dream performed in the natural theater in Greenwood Park last week. It was wonderful! But my favorite performace of Pyramus and Thisby will always be The Beatles performing it.
Meanwhile, I’ve begun building a wall myself! I’m afraid I’ll be pretty embarassed when my uncle, the landscape architect comes over to take a look at it, but it’s my first try so there’s lots of room for improvement. I don’t really know what I’m doing.
